Arts Centre

11_art centreThe Arts centre was inspired by the American artist CY Twombly. His paintings feature flowers in vibrant colours this was used as the inspiration for the building. The form of the building was based on his Rose paintings.

The building site is in Rome where Twombly lived. The centre is located in the Villa Borghese Gardens.

The building has an exhibition area and cafe in the main space; that looks out onto a central courtyard. There are separate studio spaces off this main exhibition area.

Timber slats will be used to clad the building providing shading and allowing natural ventilation. Also the roof of the building will have wild flowers growing on it. The glazing folds back in studios to give outdoor feel to the spaces.
