Exhibition Centre

10_back viewThe exhibition centre was to commemorate the founding of Abu Dhabi 250 years ago as water was discovered then. The site is on Al Lulu Island a 1,050-acre (4.2 km2) man-made island off the coast of Abu Dhabi island. It stretches from the Abu Dhabi Breakwater to the Zayed Sea Port.

The building is an exhibition centre and has café/restaurant at the ground and first floor levels. The movement of water was used to create the building form and it floats out over the water. There will be pools of water outside the building but also inside the building. These interior pools will aid cooling. The Glazing in the roof provides reflective light into the exhibition spaces. The Exhibition spaces will have views out over the water. The windows give the occupants a close connection to the surrounding water. The café opens up onto an outdoor space and at the upper level onto a raised terrace.
